Although the first automobile arrived in Washington in 1900, by the 1910's, traffic congestion had already become a major problem. Some things just don't seem to change as these early photos of traffic congestion along First and Pike and near the Ferry Terminal in Seattle attest.

I was surprised to see all of the street cars then in service along First Avenue. The large Statue of Liberty marks the Liberty Theater where patrons could shop at the Pike Place Market and leave their groceries at the check-in room until after the movie. How about trying to catch a ferry at the Coleman Dock?
