Our area's resort boom of the 1920's - 1940's was not limited to lakes. Several resorts located along the Green River also enjoyed wide popularity. These included Rudge's Green River Gorge Resort and what is now Flaming Geyser State Park. According to an article in the Auburn Globe-Reported dated July 10, 1925, a huge sign was located along the highway directing tourists to popular destinations:

I never realized that "billboard" advertising had such a long history.
