Mail delivery during snowy months has not always been easy. You even needed to carry a rifle. Wolves? The above photo shows Elmor (Skinny) Trescott on his delivery route. The mail wagon carried a small sheepherders stove in winter months so he could stay warm on his route that at times took up to 3 days to complete. Only one horse was required to pull the mail wagon in the summer, but during winter two were needed along with ski's added to the wagon.
And how about those school bus drivers? Following is a photo courtesy Washington State Library showing a school bus being pulled by a team of horses. Whatever it takes for our children to get a good education.
