Looking for a historical picture of Mount Rainer taken during the 1950's? Search for old postcards that your family may have stashed away. You just might find one of those treasures - an Instagram of history. Such was the case looking for old logging photos of Judy's dad George Zoffel. Here is a postcard photo of Mount Rainier taken during the early 1950's with George and a couple of boys posing on logs for the camera.
I was surprised to see how close they logged to Mount Rainier at the time. Not the big clear cuts these days. This would be in the Lake Kapowsin area. Fun picture.
Would love to see the borders of Mt. Rainier National Park extended west,at least to the confluence of the Puyallup and Mowich. Even better, to the shores of Lake Kapowsin! Of course, I doubt the landowners would ever consider 'donating' it to the Park Service.
Anyway, thanks for the interesting posts!
