Celebrating the 4th of July has a long history in our community. It's not clear that we had fireworks displays "back in the day" (I doubt it), but it's clear we had parades - any excuse for a parade.

Pretty fancy decorations and a great time for promoting locally made coal Briquets for heating your home.

Apparently parades were quite popular at the time.

Labor Day is now the time for our community's signature annual parade - but alas, not this year given the coronavirus pandemic. Next year we hope. However, Lake Sawyer Community Club members voted to continue on with this years 4th of July Fireworks display, so let's enjoy and celebrate - SAFE AND SANE. If among other people, please wear your mask so everyone can enjoy next year's celebration too!
